Privacy Policy

Stay Away is a screen-time management app for iOS. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and what is not collected. We have designed the app to be as private as possible.

1. Data we do not collect

• We do not create or store user accounts.
• We do not sync any data to our servers. There are no servers.
• We do not collect your name, email address, or any contact information.
• We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties for advertising.

2. On-device storage

All app state, including your streaks, goals, relapse logs, and settings, is stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage. This data never leaves your device and is not accessible to us. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it.

3. Screen Time and Family Controls

Stay Away uses Apple's Screen Time and Family Controls APIs (ManagedSettings, DeviceActivity, FamilyControls) to block apps and websites on your device. All processing happens on-device and is managed by Apple's frameworks. We never have access to the specific apps you block or your Screen Time usage data. That information stays within Apple's system.

4. Analytics

We use PostHog to collect anonymous, aggregated analytics to understand how the app is used and to improve it. PostHog events are associated with a randomly generated anonymous ID, not with any personal identifier. Examples of events we track:

• onboarding_completed (a user finished setup)
• relapse_logged (a user logged a relapse)
• streak_broken (a streak was broken)

We do not track which apps you block, the content of your goals, or any sensitive personal information. You can learn about PostHog's data practices at posthog.com/privacy.

5. Notifications

Stay Away may send you local push notifications (e.g., streak reminders, check-ins). These are scheduled entirely on-device by iOS. We do not use a push notification service and do not receive any notification-related data.

6. Subscriptions and payments

Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple In-App Purchase. We never see or store your payment information, billing address, or Apple ID. Apple's privacy policy governs those transactions.

7. Children's privacy

Stay Away is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
